The educational objectives of the Class LM4 including in depth knowledge of the history and conservation of the theoretical scientific, methodological and operational architectural conservation.
"In the field of restoration content-disciplinary scientific concern: the theoretical foundations of conservation and restoration are generally understood, also seen in their historical development, the search for the critical understanding of figural texture and material of the monuments in their complex temporal stratification, the 'analysis and identification of degradation phenomena and their causes, in view of the subsequent actions of protection, the methods and processes for the design and conservation work to building scale, of archaeological remains, historic park or garden, the old town, territory and landscape assets, and for the maintenance, rehabilitation, consolidation and renovation of historic buildings. "
The discipline will address the topics related to:
- The history of the restoration of monuments in relation to the general history of the restoration of works of art.
- The historical evolution of the concept of protection of cultural heritage.
- Roman law and the protection of monuments.
- The protection of cultural heritage in the pre-unification Italian states: the Papal State, the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, the Kingdom of Naples, the Duchy of Parma, Lombardy and the Republic of Venice.
- First interventions of legislation for the protection of cultural heritage in the Kingdom of Italy.
- The regulation of urban public spaces. Institutions and magistrates.
- The commodification of urban spaces; gated communities; gentrification processes.
- War and cultural heritage.
- The “Code of cultural heritage and landscape” - Decreto Legislativo 22 gennaio 2004 n. 42
- Verification and Declaration of Cultural Interest procedures
- The protection constraint of an architectural asset.
- The documentation required for the evaluation of an architectural project - art.21 D.L.42/2004
